FOUNDATION STONE BLESSING OF SAINT PETKA CHURCH

On the day of Venerable Mother Paraskeva, October 27, the Archbishop of Nis Jovan, performed the blessing ritual of the foundation stone for the Church of Saint Petka in Palilula in the park across the Central railway station in Nis. With this action, the people of Palilula will have `one more place of God and place of their own prayers and meetings` and for the city itself it means writing of new history of Bubanj and our Emperor City – emphasized arch - priest Ivan Stankovic.In the end of 2011 the Agreement with the City of Nis was signed on mutual construction of this church where the City of Nis is obliged to give the land, and Church to provide resources for construction.

After the construction of outer church walls, the City will give to the Eparchy of Nis the land. The dynamics of the works is that until the end of this calendar year this church will get its roof (dome) anduntil the next summer it can have full liturgical function.

According to president Dzunic words, Palilula Municipality in accordance with possibilities financially supports certain investment and programme activities of the Church. In the city area of Palilula Municipality there are four orthodox churches: St Nikola Church, Church of Uprising of the Holly Cross (New Cemetery), St Sava Church (Hilandar Metoh), Church of the Holly Ghost (KPD), and Church of Saint Petka (in construction).

In suburbia area and rural area of Palilula there are: Church of St Trinity (Gabrovac), Church of St Jeremije in Vukmanovo, Church of St Dimitrije in Berbatovo, Church of St Lazar in Gornje Vlase, Church of St Sunday in Pasi Poljana, Church of St Ilija in Cokot, Church of Holly Mother of Christ - Great Gospojina in Medjurovo. In the end of 1999 on Hilandar metoh in Delijski Vis Theologian Seminary from Prizren was moved.
